  • What computer viruses are, what they do, symptoms to look for, and the dangers of having them on your computer.
  • Antivirus Program – the importance of scanning, checking the history of and monitoring the system.
  • Clearing/cleaning your temporary internet files.
  • ​Checking your firewall and Windows update settings.
  • How to and the importance of: creating, setting, locking, and changing a strong and effective password.
  • Creating a "Guest" account.
  • ​Physically protecting your computer/laptop.
  • ​How to privately browse/search the internet, so that your history is not tracked.
  • ​Checking to see if a website is secure, prior to putting in your credit card information or password.
  • How to identify and avoid email and phone call scams (electric company, IRS, updating your bank account information...).
  • ​​​Learning how to avoid website pitfalls & traps (as some websites may automatically install viruses on your computer/device).
  • Updating your browser (depending on students’ requests): Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox.
  • Unsubscribing from unwanted emails.
  • Blocking Emails In: Hotmail & Gmail

  • Two (2) Factor Authentication: Hotmail/Outlook & Gmail
  • ​How to check the programs running on your machine.
  • ​How to hide your desktop icons, private folders and documents.
